Overview:
The Annapurna Viewpoint trek is a wild and recently opened route that takes you far from the crowds, into the heart of pristine nature. Between the spectacular panoramas of Muldai (3637m) and Poon Hill (3210m), this journey explores the little-known trails of the Hidden Lake (4380m) (Tridevi Tal). It is a rare immersion offering breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Fishtail (Machhapuchhre), and Hiunchuli.
Why Choose This Itinerary?
Hidden Lake (Tridevi Tal) is a jewel nestled at the foot of Annapurna South. This lake, with no apparent source, possesses a mystical and religious aura. Every year during the Janaipurnima festival, locals come to honor the temple of Baraha Devi. Unlike the classic trails, here you will walk on isolated terrain, encounter alpine yaks, and enjoy absolute serenity.
Technical Difficulty
This trek is considered demanding. While the trails to Poon Hill are accessible, the access to Hidden Lake includes rocky sections and steep descents (especially towards Tribung). Due to the isolation of the area and the limited number of lodges available on certain portions, a good physical condition and previous hiking experience are strongly recommended.
*Booking

*Comments on trip levels:
Even for an easy level, hiking remains a sport that requires good health. To assess your level, you should consider your physical fitness and the technical skills required based on the average walking time, elevation changes, and the nature of the terrain.
We offer three levels in our trips:
1/ Easy Level:
This generally corresponds to less than 4 hours of walking per day. The elevation gain of the hikes is on average less than 600 m. The routes follow well-marked trails and the terrain is only occasionally rugged. This level is accessible to anyone in good health who engages in some form of regular physical activity.
2/ Moderate Level:
This generally corresponds to an average of 5 hours of walking per day. The elevation gain of the hikes is on average less than 850 m. The routes follow marked trails or may cross areas where the trail is not apparent. Progress is made on more or less rugged terrain. This level is suitable for people in good health who practice sports fairly regularly (about once a week).
3/ Sporting Level:
This generally corresponds to an average of more than 6 hours of walking per day. The daily elevation gain of the hikes varies between 600 and 1200 m. The routes follow marked trails, may cross areas where the trail is not apparent, or be in “off-trail” areas, especially during the ascent of certain peaks. Progress is often made on quite rugged terrain. This level is suitable for people in very good health who regularly practice an endurance sport (such as jogging, long-distance walking, cycling, swimming, etc.) and/or have experience in the sport offered during the trip (person who has already practiced hiking or cycling regularly, etc.). Registration for this type of activity implies the regular practice of one or more physical activities (at least once a week) in the weeks preceding departure.

Namaste! Today, you arrive in Kathmandu, the gateway to a fascinating world. Upon landing, a warm welcome awaits to transfer you to your hotel, where the charm of Nepal will immediately embrace you.
To celebrate this first step, a welcome dinner will be offered in the company of your local guide. Their stories and hospitality will immerse you in the vibrant soul of this legendary city. A special moment of sharing and discovery for a gentle introduction, before making way for the adventure that awaits you on the trails of Annapurna.
Today, we set out to discover the majestic stupa of Swayambhunath, perched on a hill overlooking the entire valley. This sacred site, nicknamed the “Monkey Temple,” is a true spiritual gem where a mystical atmosphere reigns amidst prayers and colorful flags.
We will continue our day towards the site of Pashupatinath, the most sacred place of Hinduism in Nepal, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Here, ancestral rituals take place in an atmosphere filled with solemnity. You will have the opportunity to see the famous Sadhus, these ascetic holy men with painted faces and long beards.
After this day rich in discoveries and emotions, we will return to the hotel with our heads full of memories and our hearts light. A moment suspended in time, just like this enchanting country.
Free evening.
Today, we head to Pokhara by tourist bus, with lunch planned along the way to admire the landscapes of rivers and valleys.
Upon our arrival in Pokhara, a transfer will take us to the Hemja Tibetan refugee camp. You will stay in accommodation within the monastery itself, a place of absolute peace and serenity. Once settled, you will have the opportunity to discover the life of the camp and the architecture of the monastery, before preparing to attend the Puja, the evening prayer ceremony.
This spiritual immersion will plunge you into the heart of Tibetan traditions, a suspended moment where the harmony of chants and devotion meet. The night will be spent in the sacred calm of the monastery, with vegetarian meals carefully prepared by the community. A soothing stay, ideal for nourishing the soul before starting your trek.
After a hearty breakfast at the monastery, you will meet the entire trekking team (guides and porters), ready to share this memorable adventure with you. A private minibus will take us to the village of Dhampus, the starting point of our hike.
The trek begins with a gentle ascent through rhododendron forests towards Pothana, then up to the Deurali Pass (2100 m). From there, the panoramic view of the surrounding valleys is striking. We will then begin a pleasant descent towards Bheri Kharka, before continuing our way to the village of Tolka.
The trail then winds along the hillside to lead us to Landruk, a charming Gurung village offering a breathtaking view of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. We will spend the night in a lodge, soaking in the local hospitality and the calm of the mountains.
We leave Landruk heading towards Jhinu Danda. This morning is all about relaxation: we descend to the banks of the Modi Khola to enjoy the natural hot springs (between 30°C and 32°C). It is an exceptional moment of relaxation in the heart of the jungle (don’t forget your swimsuit!).
After this regenerating bath, we will ascend back to the village for lunch. In the afternoon, we will begin an ascent of about 1.5 hours at a “Nepali pace” (slowly but surely) to reach the large village of Chhomrong.
Before us, the spectacle is magnificent: a breathtaking view of Machhapuchhre (the famous “Fishtail”) and Annapurna South. We will spend the night in a lodge, facing these ice giants.
“Argos Trekking Nepal” Exclusive Route: Today, we leave the classic tourist trails to take a side path used by the villagers. We will walk through magnificent terraces where farmers cultivate rice and millet using ancestral methods. Keep an eye out: it’s often an opportunity to spot monkeys (langurs) jumping from tree to tree.
We will arrive in Ghandruk, one of the most beautiful and typical villages of the Gurung ethnic group. The panorama of Machhapuchhre (6993 m) is revealed here from an enchanting angle, showing its perfect “Fishtail” shape.
The afternoon will be dedicated to discovering this picturesque village: a visit to its traditional museum, its temple, and immersion in Nepalese rural life. Stroll through the cobbled streets, interact with the locals, and let yourself be imbued with the warmth of this community. A day rich in encounters and wonder.
After a hearty breakfast, we will take the time to explore the village of Ghandruk more deeply and visit its Gurung Museum. This is a precious immersion into the history and customs of this renowned mountain ethnic group.
We will then set off for a stage of ascent through enchanting landscapes. The trail winds through cultivated terraces adorned with Poinsettias (Christmas stars), whose bright red flowers illuminate the scenery. You will observe local agricultural traditions, with their picturesque, gigantic corn dryers.
The climb continues through a dense forest of rhododendrons and oaks until we reach Tadapani. This village, perched on a ridge, offers one of the most beautiful balconies overlooking Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. We will spend the night in a lodge, in this true haven of peace surrounded by the majesty of the peaks.
Today, we leave the main trail to immerse ourselves in an incredible rhododendron forest, where the magic of nature works its charm at every step. Along the way, keep your eyes open: you may be lucky enough to spot entellus monkeys, curious and agitated by our passage through their preserved habitat.
After a good climb, we will reach Isharu for a revitalizing lunch. We will then continue our ascent towards Dobato, on a wild ridge trail offering new perspectives on the peaks.
Once settled in our lodge in Dobato, and if the weather is clear, we will take a short climb to the Muldai viewpoint (3649 m). From there, you will witness an unforgettable spectacle: the sunset over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. The warm colors of dusk setting the peaks ablaze will remain etched in your memory.
We will then enjoy a comforting meal before spending the night in the absolute calm of the high mountains.
We start our day at the first light of dawn to witness the sunrise from the Muldai View Point (3637 m). Seeing the first golden rays set the snowy peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ablaze is a supernatural moment, an image that will remain forever engraved in your heart.
After this spectacle, we return to Dobato for breakfast, retrieve our luggage, and head towards Pode Kharka. The trail, initially descending, then climbs back up towards the highlands.
Safety Note: This section of the itinerary is one of the wildest. The trail crosses a landslide area and winds along steep ridges. It is precisely for this technical and vertiginous passage that this trek is reserved for experienced hikers. The presence of our certified guides, who know this unstable terrain perfectly, is essential for your safety here.
Finally, the cold high-altitude breeze and the alpine pastures where yaks and sheep graze announce our arrival at Pode Kharka. You are now in the heart of the wild Himalayas.
We start our day early for this major stage of our journey. After breakfast, we set off for the Hidden Lake, also known as Tridevi Tal.
Although the distance is short (about 5 km one way), walking at over 4000 meters requires sustained effort due to the lack of oxygen. The trail crosses landscapes of alpine pastures and rocky sections composed of black shale, where caution is necessary.
After 2 to 3 hours of ascent, the Hidden Lake is revealed at an altitude of 4380 m. Nestled at the foot of the immense south face of Annapurna, the lake welcomes you with its crystal-clear waters. A fascinating fact: the lake has no apparent source; it is its own natural water source.
On its banks, we will discover the small temples of Baraha Devi, a sacred pilgrimage site for the Gurung community. If you are traveling during the Janai Purnima festival, you may have the chance to witness ancestral rituals. Along the way, we will encounter shepherds, yaks, and sheep, and observe the medicinal herbs that the locals still harvest today.
After savoring this moment of serenity, we descend back to Pode Kharka for lunch, then resume the trail towards Dobato for the night.
This day once again begins before dawn to capture the magic of an exceptional sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. At this altitude, the temperature is cool; it is essential to dress warmly.
After a short hour’s climb, we reach the Muldai viewpoint. More intimate and closer to the peaks than the famous Poon Hill, this viewpoint offers a stunning spectacle as the summits are colored with pink and gold. Once we have had our fill of images, we descend back to the lodge for breakfast.
We then resume the walk on a trail crossing high-altitude pine and rhododendron forests. Don’t be surprised to come across some domesticated yaks hidden in the thickets: although massive, they are shy towards humans. The trail winds along the mountainside before following a ridge, then plunges into the forest. After crossing a stream on a rudimentary bridge, we reach the isolated lodges of Chistibung.
We start the day with a series of ascents and descents through a dense forest of rhododendrons and bamboos, before tackling the final climb to Khopra Ridge.
Here, the landscape changes dramatically. Poon Hill, which we will reach in a few days, seems very distant and much lower. At Khopra, we have a front-row seat: Dhaulagiri (8167 m) stands majestically before us, accompanied by Nilgiri and Annapurna South, which seems almost within arm’s reach.
We will have lunch on the ridge to savor this exceptional 360° panorama. After this contemplative break at the foot of Annapurna South and Mount Feng, we will descend back to Chistibung along the same trail. For the more adventurous, an additional short walk around the lodge will offer a chance to admire the last rays of sunset on the peaks.
Today, we begin our descent towards the valley. The trail drops steadily through dense vegetation. This wild region is a sanctuary for wildlife: by staying quiet and attentive, you might be lucky enough to spot a Himalayan Tahr, a robust and agile wild goat, or the flamboyant Danphe (Himalayan Monal), Nepal’s national bird with its rainbow-colored plumage.
We cross through the rhododendron forests again before reaching a wooden bridge that spans a rushing river. The path then becomes gentler and more pleasant, winding its way to the charming hamlet of Swanta. Nestled amidst rice paddies and mountain crops, this village offers a peaceful and authentic atmosphere.
We start the day with a peaceful walk among the terraced rice fields. The trail first descends to a small river, where we will take the time to observe a traditional water mill, still used by the villagers to grind grain.
After crossing a suspension bridge, we begin a steady ascent towards the village of Chitre. It is here that we rejoin the classic “Annapurna Circuit” route. The path climbs gradually through the woods to the famous village of Ghorepani.
From this strategic pass, you will enjoy an exceptional panorama of the peaks. It is also an opportunity to look back and admire the wild ridges where you were walking in the previous days. A shorter stage, ideal for resting before the next day’s sunrise.
This exceptional day is marked by the discovery of two spectacular viewpoints connected by a magnificent ridge line: the unmissable Poon Hill and the summit of Mohare Danda.
We start very early to climb Poon Hill and witness one of the most famous sunrises in the Himalayas. If the weather is clear, you will see the first rays ignite Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South. After this magical moment, we return to Ghorepani for breakfast.
We then follow the ridge trail towards Mohare Danda, with the majestic Dhaulagiri always in sight. The route passes through rhododendron forests and along beautiful pastures for yaks and buffaloes. At the end of the day, we arrive at the Mohare Danda community lodge.
The view here is, once again, breathtaking: Mardi Himal, Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and the Annapurnas on one side; the Dhaulagiri massif and Tukuche Peak on the other. On a very clear day, you can even see Phewa Lake in Pokhara shimmering in the distance.
For this second-to-last day of walking, we stay on the heights, following a superb ridge line. The majestic Dhaulagiri continues to accompany us, providing a grandiose backdrop for our progress.
We head towards Hampal Pass (2990 m) before starting a steeper descent towards the village of Lespar. This village, where the Gurung and Magar ethnic groups coexist harmoniously, is a model of authenticity with its traditional houses and well-kept gardens. It is an ideal stop to observe the daily life of the inhabitants, far from the classic tourist trails.
Enjoy this last evening in the mountains to share a moment of conviviality with the team of porters and guides who have accompanied you throughout this adventure.
For this final morning of walking, we leave Lespar for a 4 to 5-hour hike through the mid-mountain landscapes until we reach the road at Patichaur. From there, a private vehicle takes us towards Nayapul, marking our gradual return to “civilization.”
We will sit down to enjoy a friendly lunch, our last trek meal, an opportunity to share our best adventure memories. After this moment of exchange, a private bus will take us to the village of Pandeli, located near Pokhara.
We will spend the night at Shanti Om Stay, an authentic place that offers a unique experience combining local immersion, simple comfort, and positive impact tourism. You will be accommodated in ecological houses built from natural materials or in tipis, in the heart of a peaceful setting between the jungle and the mountains.
Shanti Om Stay is much more than just accommodation: it is a solidarity project where every visitor participates in the development of the village. Depending on the season, you can discover local crafts, community projects, or simply share a moment of life with the inhabitants. A responsible end to the journey where human exchange is at the center of everything.
After a delicious breakfast at Shanti Om Stay, we dedicate our morning to exploring the village of Pandeli. It’s a fascinating immersion into the local economy: we will visit the artisanal coffee production, as well as the women’s cooperative and the sewing center, which are pillars of the village’s self-sufficiency.
We will also visit the Kavresthali school. This is a special moment for those who wish to make a solidarity gesture: you can distribute the school supplies you have brought to support the education of the village children.
After these moments of intense exchange, we will head back towards Pokhara with a short one-hour walk to reach our vehicle. We will check into our hotel in the lively Lakeside district. You can enjoy the afternoon strolling by Phewa Lake or doing some shopping.
The morning begins with a visit to the International Mountain Museum. It is a fascinating place that recounts the history of the first ascents of the 8,000-meter peaks, while highlighting the rich culture of the Himalayan peoples you have just encountered.
Back at Phewa Lake, we will board small traditional boats (Doongas) for an enchanting ride. This moment of floating on the calm waters, with the reflection of Machhapuchhre in the background, will lead us to a restaurant on the shore for lunch.
The afternoon is free: take the opportunity to explore the craft shops of Lakeside, treat yourself to a well-deserved massage, or simply relax by the lake. At the end of the day, we will meet for a farewell dinner in a charming restaurant by the water to celebrate the success of your trek.
Today, we take the tourist bus back towards the Kathmandu Valley. We will once again travel through the green landscapes along the banks of the Trishuli River, with lunch planned along the way.
Upon arrival in the valley, we will continue our journey to Bhaktapur, the medieval city of devotees, a UNESCO World Heritage site. After checking into our hotel, you will be immediately transported by the timeless charm of this city of brick and carved wood.
The evening is free, inviting you to explore Bhaktapur at your own pace. Stroll through its paved alleys, admire the majestic temples of Durbar and Taumadhi squares, and let yourself be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of this ancient royal city. It’s the perfect time to taste the famous “Juju Dhau” (the local yogurt), get lost in a picturesque café, or find some last-minute handmade souvenirs.
A restful night awaits you in the heart of this museum-city, for a final immersion in Nepalese history.
We begin the day with a visit to Bhaktapur, the most medieval of the valley’s cities. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it has preserved a timeless atmosphere. We will admire its architectural gems: Durbar Square, the Nyatapola Temple (the tallest in the country), and the famous carved wooden windows. In the morning light, every alley tells a thousand-year-old story.
In the early afternoon, we will head to Patan (Lalitpur), “the city of beauty.” This ancient royal city is famous for its many Buddhist and Hindu temples, and its exceptional craftsmanship in metal and bronze work. Its Durbar Square is considered by many to be one of the most harmonious in the world.
Finally, we will reach Thamel, the vibrant district of Kathmandu. You will have a free evening for your last-minute shopping, strolling through the colorful shops, or enjoying a final meal in one of the neighborhood’s many restaurants. One last night at the hotel to conclude this emotionally rich journey.
Today, depending on your flight schedule, we will transfer you to Kathmandu’s international airport for your departure.
As you head to your return flight, take a moment to savor the richness of the experiences lived during this unforgettable journey, from the peaks of Hidden Lake to the solidarity encounters in Pandeli. Every smile you encountered and every panorama you admired are treasures that will stay with you for a long time.
